Our Jolina loves experimenting. She has tried experimenting with sooo many things whether on clothes, shoes, make-up, contacts, accessories, and of course, her favorite, hair color.
Because of this, our Jolina is definitely a trendsetter.
So what are some of them?
Again, a lot of people were shocked to see Jolina when she had highlights on her hair of at least 5 different colors. Even her parents got a little shocked when they saw it! But then again, there was something wonderful about it.
Many were shocked and didn't know how to react with her bright retro clothes, but many (especially the other young celebs) were also "inspired" to wear the same bright colored clothes!
Women have always worn nail polish--but not the way Jolina did. She didn't want to wear nail polish the conventional way, that is, wearing only one color. Instead, she wore at least 3 colors on each of her nails, with a design to match of course.
When people watch variety shows, they always see celebrities in their usual looks. The usual make-up, and the usual hairstyles. People again, got shocked anew seeing Jolina's out-of-this-world hairstyles.
One Sunday in ASAP, people saw Jolina singing and noticed something different about her. Then they realized: "She has glitters on her face!" (One time, she even put some on Marvin's face). Then after a while people thought of putting glitters on their arms, shoulders, legs, etc! Thus, the glitter phenomenon.
Who could ever forget the phenomena that the butterfly clip created? Yep, the ones that looked alive from a distance. Indeed a lot of girls got fascinated by this that a few weeks after seeing Jolina wearing it, almost every single girl, especially kids, had at least one of these and was wearing it to school. And there were butterflies everywhere (literally)!
No one can deny that Jolina set the trend for the flared or the bellbottom jeans. She carried it so well, that girls, whether from the upper or lower social class had at least one pair of these pants.
This was quite a short-lived trend, but it was definitely Jolina who started the trend. Even other people will attest to that--"Jolina has always been a trendsetter: she was already doning bohemian fashion before it became the "in" thing." -Dolly Anne Carvajal
If I remember it right, these headbands were a fad back in the 80's. And who can ever bring that it back to the late 90's? No one else but Jolina.
The height of this trend was back in 1999, but believe me, in Jolina's fashion sense, these bags were "uso" to her way back in 1997 and she called it mailman's bag in an interview. Back in 1998, if you people saw her movie "Labs Kita, Okey Ka Lang?", she used a couple of these in the movie. Then after a couple of years, it was sold everywhere and people were buying it.
You say it's not? That's because you don't watch her shows as often as her fans do. These beads became a trend in the year 2000. I saw Jolina on "Labs Ko si Babe" wearing these beads back in November 1999. And it was only a year after when people went gaga over them.
